Bringing nearly a decade of special education teaching experience, Jennifer provides advocacy and legal services for children and families in special education law matters throughout Texas. Before earning her law degree, Jennifer was a special education teacher in Texas, working with children with various abilities. Jennifer brings her intimate knowledge of special education, the ARD/IEP process, and knowledge of the school district's inner workings to her practice. Jennifer Lynn Swanson has experienced firsthand the true power of education. Initially an unremarkable student, Jennifer was inspired to academic achievement by a positive high school math teacher who insisted students write quotations at the top of their math journals. “Good, better, best. Success never rests until good be better, and better be best!”—Mother Goose. After high school, Jennifer attended Baylor University, receiving a B.A. in history. Before completing law school, Jennifer spent nearly a decade in public school teaching special education. She instructed children across a spectrum of disabilities. In addition, she received training and provided dyslexia instruction. Her motto: “My teacher thought I was smart, so I was!” While attending South Texas College of Law Houston, Jennifer made the Dean's list, was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, received a Pro Bono Honors award, participated in three legal clinics, and submitted two research papers. Jennifer's legal career has been devoted to representing families of children with support needs attending Texas Public Schools. She often tells clients that if she found herself unable to work as a Special Education Parent-side Attorney, she would go back into the classroom.
